Northmont wins Academic Challenge title

BEAVERCREEK — On Wednesday, March 1, the Northmont Academic Challenge team took on Beavercreek for the GWOC championship at Beavercreek High School.

Both teams came into the doubleheader match 10-0 in the conference. Northmont jumped out big in the first game, winning 510-230. In game two, Northmont came back from a 110 point deficit to win 370-235.

This clinched the conference at 12-0.

The Northmont JV team also swept its matches in conference play, going 12-0 as well.

On Saturday, the team competed in the NAQT State championship. The team came home 8-2 on the day, finishing in 3rd place in the state. Northmont’s team of three juniors and one sophomore (Ave Rieger, Adam Williams, Ryan Fitzgerald, and Ethan Kral) finished behind only two teams of seniors from Solon and Copley.
