EATON — The mission and purpose of the Senior Home Repair Program, an initiative of the Home Is The (HIT) Foundation in Preble County, is to provide and utilize supportive partnerships with various local contractors, organizations, and businesses to accomplish the goal of keeping seniors safe and secure in their own homes.
Dan and Sherry Foster are prime examples of this partnership, according to HIT officials. Foster’s Home Improvement was able to donate their materials and labor to provide Michael Meadows with a secure back door, stable steps, new gutters, fascia boards and a newly painted and sealed roof.
When the Foster’s went to assess Meadows’ home, and saw there was a huge security issue with the back door, and the roof was leaking, they knew they wanted to help.
“Our company takes pride in helping those in need, and being able to partner with the Senior Home Repair Program, we are able to help those most in need,” Sherry Foster explained.
Foster’s Home Improvement donated over $3,000 into Meadow’s home, not only a new back door and sealing his roof, but new back steps, new gutters, and fascia boards and an extension of a ramp so that his roommate could maneuver in and out of the home.
“I am overwhelmed by companies like Foster’s Home Improvement and the many donors who make it possible to help seniors who cannot make repairs to their homes due to limited resources, disabilities, and are without family support. It is incredible what can be done when a community works together for such a wonderful purpose,” Ginger Roth, manager of the Senior Home Repair Program, said.
