EATON — Local public safety officials mourn the loss of one of their own this week, as Gasper Township Fire and Emergency Medical Services announced publicly the sudden death of Fire Chief Mike Jeffery over the past weekend.

Jeffery, 56, died on Friday, July 29, according to a release regarding funeral services posted by Gasper Township Fire & EMS representatives.

Jeffery was the current fire chief of the Gasper Township Fire/EMS. He was also an officer for Lakengren Security and was a member of the Bolivar Masonic Lodge #82, F&AM in Eaton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Eaton Church of the Brethren, 813 Camden Road, Eaton. Burial will be at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 3-8 p.m., at the church.

Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton is handling arrangements. According to Jeffery’s obituary, memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
