Two arrested in Oxford aggravated robbery

OXFORD — On Wednesday, June 8, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Oxford police officers were dispatched to Dollar General, 5055 College Corner Pike, for a robbery in progress. At least one shot was fired during the robbery, but no one was injured. The suspect took an unknown amount of cash and fled on foot. The Oxford Police Department canine was deployed but the suspect was not located.

On the morning of Thursday, June 9, detectives continued their investigation and identified a suspect and his accomplice. Both were taken into custody a short time later. Search warrants were conducted and evidence was recovered, including cash, clothing, and the handgun used in the crime.

Jason Dent, 20, was arrested and booked into the Butler County Jail on a charge of aggravated robbery, a felony of the first degree. Ashlea Schmidt, 26, was arrested and booked into the Butler County Jail on a charge of complicity to aggravated robbery, also a felony of the first degree. Both are residents of Oxford.
