Kinetic circus fun

OXFORD —The sixth annual Oxford Kinetics Festival: “Circus Fracas” entertained a good crowd on Sunday, April 17, at Millett Hall on Miami University’s campus.

Families had the opportunity to see jugglers, puppeteers, slackline walkers, and side shows of all sorts. Kids of all ages could choose from all sorts of art, science, and circus activities to experience throughout the day, as well as performances and presentations from regional artisans, odd clubs of all sorts.

Kids and family teams could race their kinetic contraptions in The Scramble for fame and glory, while those 16 and older who think they have the kinetic “can do!” could compete in The Dogs’ Breakfast, what organizers called “a mighty race of Frankensteinian inventions.”

Food trucks from all around the region provided refreshments from around the world, and families experienced everything from learning to stilt walk to walking a tight rope.

That’s a lot of hula hoops! One activity during the annual Oxford Kinetics Festival gave children and families the opportunity to keep as many hula hoops going as possible.

Walking the not-so-tight rope was just one experience those who turned out for the Circus Fracas got to share.
