EATON – A California woman is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 200 pounds of marijuana, worth approximately $1 million following a traffic stop in Preble County.

On Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 2:56 p.m., troopers stopped a 2005 Ford F-250 pick-up truck, with a Nevada license plate registration, for impeding traffic on Interstate 70, near milepost 8, according to an OSHP news release.

Troopers observed criminal indicators and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle.

A probable cause search revealed the contraband, troopers reported.

The driver, Nancy Jean Thompson, 62, of Groveland, California, was charged with possession of drugs, a second-degree felony. She was scheduled for an appearance in Eaton Municipal Court on Friday, Dec. 2.

If convicted, she could face up to 8 years in prison and up to a $15,000 fine, according to troopers.

Thompson remained in the Preble County Jail at press time.
