TIPP CITY — The National Trail boys soccer team was overpowered in a 12-0 loss to the Bethel Bees on Monday, Oct. 17, in the first round of the Dayton 5 Sectional Tournament.

The Bees were the top team in the Cross County Conference and were seeded No. 6 in the tournament, while Trail was seeded No. 28. Bethel wasted no time in taking control of the game, and never let up until it was over.

“We lost to Bethel earlier in the season with the exact same score,” said Trail coach Mariah Brinley. “Not a whole lot to say about the game, but the boys played their best and had about four or five attempts at their goal. But, Bethel was a strong team. The boys had a good time, they enjoyed their last game and were positive the entire game.”

“The season overall had no wins, but I stayed positive this whole season,” Brinley said. “Learning from my mistakes and taking it all in to consideration for next season, was quite a journey for me.”

“We lose four seniors this year — Zach Allen, Levi Moreland, Nick Harrist, and Clayton Cruze — and we are hoping to have some kids coming up next year,” Brinley said. “I have a lot of changes I will be making for next season and look forward to sticking with these boys.”
