NEW PARIS — The National Trail boys soccer team was shut-out at home, 9-0, by Miami East in a Cross County Conference match-up on Thursday, Sept. 15.

Goalkeeper Andrew Willett had 15 saves on goal, while Clayton Cruze had 10 saves on goal.

“Miami East is a very good team,” said Trail coach Mariah Brinley. “The boys never gave up and played the entire game. This game gave them the chance to see that they need to be a little quicker getting to the ball and make better passes.

“My forwards, Nick Harrist, Levi Moreland and Zach Page worked well with their midfielders — Zacc Allen, Gavin McCoy and Colton Toms — trying to make passes up the field. Defensively, Brad Sorrell, Sam Gabbard, Carlos Osorio, and Keenan Othersen played a good game. We realized we were leaving our middle wide open and made several adjustments in the second half.”

“Overall, not a bad game regardless of the score,” Brinley added.

National Trail was slated to play Monday, Sept. 19, at Seton Catholic, and on Tuesday, Sept. 20, were to host Union County (Ind.).
