CEDARVILLE — Twin Valley South senior Madison Wright placed third in the Cedarville Friendship Invitational last weekend.

Both TVS and National Trail’s cross country teams participated at the meet held Saturday, Sept. 17.

Trail sophomore Evan Byrd led the Blazers, placing 41st out of 289 runners, earning a medal. Neither NT nor TVS girls, however, fielded enough racers to place as a team.

The NT boys placed ninth, while the TVS boys finished in 29th. Top runners for the Blazers were Lane Unger in 38th, Travis Hunt in 54th and Weston Haws in 70th.

In 79th place was Josh Bishop. Peyton Harrison came in 87th, Adam Eyler finished 103rd, and Josh Cook came in 114th.

For Twin Valley South, Matt Hemmelgarn was the top finisher, in at 99th. Kyle Saul came in 172nd.

“The team was not in top form, but it was a good opportunity to see where we stood in the regional and run the course that districts will be run on,” said NT coach Christine Byrd.

Both teams were scheduled to compete in the Preble County Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at New Paris.
