NEW LEBANON — The National Trail girls soccer team traveled to New Lebanon Monday, Sept. 12, to face the Dixie Greyhounds. The Lady Blazers were able to bring home a win in convincing style, 4-0.

Rachel Ray led Trail’s offense scoring three goals on the night and Davlyn Werner added another one goal. Taylor Middleton, Bri Dillow, Kate Othersen, and Kristen Othersen, pounded the Greyhound’s defense with shots on goal all evening, according to Trail coach Lisa McClosky.

The Lady Blazer’s defense on the other hand, was led by Erika Gallaher, Ruth Wellman, Chloe Anderson, and Dillow who held strong throughout the game, shutting down Dixie’s offense. Trail’s keeper, Sophie McCloskey, had 15 saves and secured the shutout.

“Tonight was the team I have wanted to see all season,” McClosky said. “They worked together, had great passing, great effort, made good decisions, came out strong and stayed strong all night. Each week I watch them improve and grow and I am proud of what they have been able to accomplish together as a team.”

National Trail was scheduled to play on Thursday, Sept. 15 at home against Miami East.
