LIBERTY, INDIANA — The Preble Shawnee golf team played against two Southwestern Buckeye League opponents during the early part of the week splitting those matches.

On Monday, Sept. 12, the Arrows lost to Brookville (175-234), but recovered from the loss and on Tuesday, Sept. 13, they squeaked past Northridge at home 217-227.

Against Brookville, Luke Woodard paced the Arrows with a 49, while Brookville’s Blake Mullennix was the medalist with a score of 40. Other Preble Shawnee scores were Michael Fritts (53), Gabby Batche (61), and Jarod Barnes (71).

However, Preble Shawnee rebounded from the loss with a sense of urgency the next day at Kitty Hawk Golf course.

“The boys did a great job, everyone contributed,” Shawnee coach Roy Lucas said. “This is a good up swing before the SWBL tournament come next Thursday. This is giving the team confidence and drive.”

Medalist for Preble Shawnee was Michael Fritts with a 46, while low score for Northridge was Skyler Walters with a 52. The rest of the Arrow scores were: Craig Doty (55), Jarod Barnes (55), and Luke Woodard (58).

Shawnee’s next match is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 19, at the Liberty Country Club against National Trail. There are only a few matches remaining before the regular season ends with the Sept. 22 SWBL tournament at the Beechwood Golf Course in Arcanum.
