South golf loses CCC match to Miami East

SAINT PARIS — The Lakeland Golf Course was the site of a Cross County Conference match-up between Twin Valley South and host Miami East’s golf teams, with East emerging the winner, 182-205.

TVS sophomore Nathan Osborn tied Miami East’s Dylan Martinez with the lowest score, 41, in the Thursday, Sept. 1 contest.

The remaining Panthers’ scores included: Chance Parks, 52; Cole Petersen, 55; Willie Bowman , 57; Noelle Bright, 61 and Autumn Newdigate, 62.

“Tough course tonight. Lots of water hazards to deal with,” said TVS coach Darcy Robinson. “Nathan didn’t play his usual stellar match tonight, but I’m proud of him hanging tough mentally, and not imploding when things went bad on a couple of holes. He was down by one going into the final two holes (he started on 17) and managed to tie. Other scores for us were comparable to what we’ve been shooting in other matches, so I’m happy that we could shoot that way on such a tough course. As we head into the second half of our season, I’m hoping that we can continue the momentum that we’ve got going now and ride it on into the tournament weeks.”

TVS is now 3-4 on the year, and 2-3 in the CCC. The Panthers will play next on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Franklin-Monroe.
