EATON — The Eaton Little League Big League All-Stars team played against the Northridge All-Stars on Thursday, June 30, in the District 8 finals. The team won 6-2, advancing them to the state finals.

In the first inning, neither team was able to mount an offensive, going three and out despite cracking the bats.

But, the second inning saw Northridge take the lead with a homerun over right field. Eaton, however, roared back in the top of the third inning with four runs off four hits, to take their first lead of the game.

From there, Eaton never lost the lead, though they did have to look back on several occasions when Northridge had two left on base in the fourth, and gave up a run in the fifth. The sixth inning was a bit of a scare for Eaton, as Northridge had runners in scoring position, but superb pitching won the day for Eaton. The bottom of the seventh saw spectacular pitching, with Tanner Upchurch striking out two of the final three batters to seal the victory.

The state finals begin Wednesday, July 6.
