EATON — This past week included the season-ending league tournaments for both Minor and Major league teams in the Eaton Little League organization.
Minors
Last Monday, the Braves defeated the Yankees. Braves pitchers Kip Deaton and Gavin Winings threw for three strike outs each. Jon Hewitt, Logan Irby, and Ty Fugate each had two RBIs.
Tuesday, the Pirates defeated the Orioles and the Yankees eliminated the Royals. Yankee’s pitcher Adam Kopf threw for three scoreless innings, striking out nine. Ben Charles led the offensive attack with two hits and three RBI. Parker Harris added three runs. Kase Keating did an awesome job behind the plate, Brayden Ballinger had an RBI, and many others contributed as well.
Wednesday action saw the Dodgers eliminate the Orioles and the Braves defeat the Pirates. Braves’ slugger Kip Deaton hit a homerun and racked up four RBIs. Every Braves player scored at least one run.
On Thursday, the Dodgers eliminated the Yankees from tournament play and on Friday they beat out the Pirates.
The championship game was Saturday, June 25, in a match-up between the Dodgers and the Braves. Trevor Davis dominated his three innings of pitching with nine Ks in 32 pitches, allowing only one hit. The Braves won the Minor league tournament, going undefeated for the season.
Majors
On Monday, June 20, the Astros defeated the White Sox. Tuesday’s double-header was a win for the Cubs over the Astros and the Reds over the Indians, 17-7. The Reds earned another win on Wednesday night over the Cubs, 9-7, and the Indians eliminated the White Sox. Thursday night the Astros eliminated the Indians and Friday night the Cubs beat out the Astros. On Saturday night, the Cubs and Reds met up for the championship game, with the Cubs needing to win twice. The Cubs pulled the first game out, 9-4, setting up a winner takes all game under the lights. The Reds scored three in the first inning, with homeruns from Christian Reyna and Kobe Wise. The Reds pushed across six more throughout the game and held on to win 9-3 and become the Major league champions.
Although the regular seasons are over for these teams, 38 of the players were voted to Eaton Little League All-Star teams and begin their post-season play.
The Little League (Major league) 11-12 year old All-Star team is managed by Chuck Winings who is assisted by Tim Davis and Kevin Kochensparger. Players include: Dawson Blaylock, Jon Clark, Brady Davis, Ashton Geoit, Preston James, Yusa Kitazawa, Henry Kochensparger, Josh Martin, Gabe Puckett, Christian Reyna, Matt Toller, and Theo Winings.
Their District 8 tournament runs July 5-July 9 with a home game on Wednesday, July 6, at 6 p.m.
The 10-11 year old All-Star team is managed by Jeff Michael who is assisted by Bob Brower and Tim Crammer. Players include: Ramy Ahmed, Eric Allison, Carson Brower, Ty Crammer, Garren Davidson, Jesse Davidson, Hunter DeGrasse, Trenton Dungan, Charles Kochensparger, Drew Michael, Quenton Peach, Riley Stevenson, and Colton Tiegte.
They compete in District 8 tournament play July 15 and 16 at Washington Courthouse.
The 9-10 year old All-Star team is managed by Tim Davis who is assisted by Chris Kopf and Rhonda Winings. Players include: CJ Bailey, Trevor Davis, Kip Deaton, Brayden Deem, Gavin Downs, Jordan Downs, Tyler Gregg, Jon Hewitt, Dillon Jerdon, Adam Kopf, Kaid Runyon, Cooper Wilson, and Gavin Winings.
They compete in District 8 tournament games July 12-July 17 with home games on July 14 and 15 at 6 p.m.
Good luck to all three teams on their journey to Little League State berths.

Emilee Hargis also won first place in the Pitch, Hit & Run competition. She was also eligible for the national competition.
