TCN’s Thies moving on to state

TROY — Tri-County North’s track team is still in season, having witnessed sophomore Hailey Thies place third in the 100-meter girls high hurdles last week to advance to the state track championships this upcoming weekend at Ohio State University in Columbus.

She will be the lone Panther participant for this season’s team.

Thies also placed eighth in the high jump, which was not enough to advance in that event, as only the top four finishers in each of the four regional finals qualify for state.

Lizzy Free made it to the finals in the girls pole vault, but the sophomore only managed to clear seven feet and defaulted early.

Drake Coleman made it to the regional finals in boys high hurdles and the low hurdles. Unfortunately, he managed to place fifth and seventh respectively, narrowly missing out on the trip to Columbus. Coleman will return as a senior next season.

Brett Booso was the final regional contestant for TCN. He competed in the pole vault event. Booso, who finished third in the CCC tournament, ended his season in 10th place in the regional final.

Tri-County North as a team finished 26th in the girls rankings, while the boys were tied at 32nd with six team points.
