North 6-0 in CCC

LEWISBURG — It was a busy, but productive week on the diamond for Tri-County North’s baseball team, as the Panthers racked up four conference wins in four attempts.

With those wins, the Panthers improve to 6-0 in the Cross County Conference. North closed out the week by dropping both ends of a doubleheader at Union County (Ind.) to see its overall record dip to 8-4.

North opened the week by scoring five runs in the seventh inning, on the way to an easy 15-2 win over Mississinawa Valley on Tuesday, April 12.

The Panthers scored seven runs in the second on a two-run single by Logan Elmore, an error, an RBI single by Jordan Overcash, and a three-run double by Colin Whipp.

Elmore collected three RBI on three hits.

Pitcher Chandler Sproles racked up seven strikeouts on the night. He allowed two earned runs, five hits and three walks over seven innings.

On Wednesday, North shutout host Tri-Village 7-0.

North scored two runs in the seventh on an RBI single by Logan Elmore.

Jordan Overcash was solid at the plate going 3-for-5, while driving in a run and scoring twice.

North took the lead for good in the second on an error which scored two runs.

The Panthers pushed across two runs in both the fifth inning and the seventh, as well.

On Thursday, North picked up its second straight shutout, this time blanking visiting Ansonia 9-0.

North jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the first three innings.

A sacrifice fly by Sproles, an error, and a bases loaded walk by Colin Whipp during the first inning and a wild pitch and an RBI single by Bo Hendrickson in the second inning sparked the Panthers’ early run production.

Hendrickson was solid at the plate going 3-for-4 and scoring a pair of runs.

North scored two runs in the fifth inning, and again in the sixth.

In the fifth, a two-run single by Liam Downing scored Garrett Woodyard and Whipp.

North closed out CCC play for the week on Friday with a 7-2 win at Bethel.

Tanner Booth picked up the win for the Panthers. Booth allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out five over seven innings of work.

North finished the week with a trip to Liberty, Indiana and suffered a pair of 7-6 losses.

North jumped out to an early lead, scoring twice in the top of the first inning of game one.

Hendrickson collected two RBI on two hits for North.

Union County took the lead for good in the fifth, scoring two runs on an error and a groundout.

Three runs in the top of the seventh helped North close the deficit to 7-6. An RBI double by Hendrickson, an RBI single by Downing, and an RBI double by Jordan Overcash sparked rally.

In the second game of the doubleheader North built an early lead, but Union County came back to get the 7-6 victory, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

North was scheduled to play at Minster on Monday, April 18 and at Covington for a CCC contest on Tuesday. They will close out the week by hosting Miami East on Friday.
