WEST ALEXANDRIA — Twin Valley South’s softball team rallied from a big deficit Tuesday, April 19, but couldn’t complete the comeback in falling to visiting Bethel, 16-15, in a Cross County Conference game.

A pair of sophomores led the offensive charge for South, who trailed 14-2 after 4 1/2 innings, and still by six heading into the final inning.

Shelby Denlinger was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and Jayla Taylor was 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

South scored seven runs in the fifth and added five more in the bottom of the seventh.

With the loss, South falls to 4-10 overall and 0-7 in the CCC.

On Monday, South rolled to an 11-1 win over Middletown Christian.

Junior Lacey Emrick was 4-for-4 with three RBIs and sophomore Presley Holthaus was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.

South jumped to a 1-0 lead after the first inning, then tacked on three more runs in the third and five in the fourth.

Hailee Bright picked up the win on the mound.

Last week, South suffered losses to Tri-Village (8-4) and Ansonia (7-4 and 6-0).

The Panthers were scheduled to play Covington on Wednesday and travel to Eaton on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
