Eaton swimmers compete at SWBL meet

Trey Gregory was Eaton’s lone SWBL champion, winning in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.36.


TROTWOOD — The Eaton swim team competed in the Southwestern Buckeye League swim championships at Trotwood High School, with the girls placing sixth and the boys placing third.

The Eagles lone SWBL champion was Trey Gregory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.36, beating the next swimmer by 2.62 seconds. He also finished third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.00 seconds.

“The kids have really worked hard to get this point and many of them are achieving their best time of the season,” said Eaton swim coach Dave Montgomery. “We started our taper last week to get them ready for the tournament.”

Other top six-place finishers were Lauren Ferguson, who placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.23); Sasha Taxter, who was sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:15.51); the girls 200 freestyle relay of Sasha Taxter, Abby Liddy, Mackenzie Waxler, Lauren Ferguson placed fourth (2:05.65); the girls 200 Medley relay of Lydia Fadden, Lauren Ferguson, Sasha Taxter and Abby Liddy finished fifth (2:16.65), Mason McCargish placed third in the 50 freestyle (23.61) and fourth 100 butterfly (59.00); Josh Pool finished third in the 500 freestyle (5:26.94) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:14.27); the boys 200 freestyle relay of Mason McCargish, Trey Gregory, Josh Pool and Aaron Scholl was third (1:39.11) with the same relay placing third in the 200 Medley relay (1:52.88); while the 400 freestyle relay of Wyatt Cox, Andrew Brooks, Seth Gard and Conley Mitchell was fourth (4:39.20).

Other finishers:

50 free – Lauren Ferguson (30.51), Madison Lakes (33.04), Destiny Brubaker (34.66), Brooke Sizemore (36.60), Aaron Scholl (26.42), John Christman (26.99).

100 freestyle – Abby Liddy (1:09.05), Madison Lakes (1:16.67), Destiny Brubaker (1:20.20), Laura Clyburn (1:20.61), Wyatt Cox (57.82), Conley Mitchell (59.96), Aaron Scholl (1:00.83).

200 freestyle – Laura Clyburn (2:55.83), Lydia Fadden (2:56.87), Tanner Titkemeyer (2:24.03), Seth Gard (2:37.64), Andrew Brooks (2:47.64), Michael Lipps (2:54.21).

500 freestyle – Conley Mitchell (5:54.31).

100 backstroke – Sasha Taxter (1:18.65), Lydia Fadden (1:22.13), Adam Minton (1:44.27), Andrew Brooks (1:51.55).

100 breaststroke – Abby Liddy (1:32.38), Brooke Sizemore (1:45.10), Wyatt Cox (1:15.66), Theo Darr (1:33.16), Seth Gard (1:34.38).

200 IM – Adam Minton (3:47.32)

100 butterfly – Michael Lipps (1:39.88).

400 girls freestyle relay – Madison Lakes, Laura Clyburn, Brooke Sizemore and Lydia Fadden (5:40.83)

There were also two improvements to Eaton records already broken this year by Ferguson, who took the 100 breast record to 1:15.23 and Gregory, who took the 100 fly records down to 54.00.

The girls will be swimming their sectional Saturday, Feb. 13, at WTRC in Centerville at 10 a.m. and the boys will be traveling to Trotwood High School on Friday, Feb. 12, for their sectional at 6 p.m.
