PREBLE COUNTY — The Eaton High School wrestling team recently earned the No. 1 seed in the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Team Dual Division II Region 16-A bracket. As a result, the Eagles will host the regional quarterfinals on Wednesday, Jan. 27. The matches are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the Eaton High School Gymnasium.

The OHSAA State Team Dual Tournament is one of two post-season wrestling events sponsored by the OHSAA. The OHSAA Individual Tournament starts with sectional round competition beginning the week of Feb. 15.

Four schools will compete in the regional quarterfinals at Eaton High School. Eaton (No. 1 seed) will face Meadowdale (No. 8 seed), while Tippecanoe (No. 4 seed) will face Oakwood (No. 5 seed). The winners will advance to face each other 20 minutes after the conclusion of the first dual.

Preble Shawnee earned the No. 4 seed in the Division III Region 23 A-Bracket. The Arrows will travel to Williamsburg where they will meet No. 5 East Clinton in the opening round. If Shawnee wins, it will take on either No. 8 North College Hill, No. 9 Hillcrest or the No. 1 seeded and host team Williamsburg. NCH and Hillcrest will wrestle at 5 p.m., while the second round is scheduled to begin 20 minutes after the completion of the first match.

The regional semifinal and finals are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 3, at sites yet to be determined. The state tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 14, at St. John Arena in Columbus.

National Trail, Tri-County North and Twin Valley South are not competing in the state duals this year.

Tickets are $7. No passes will be accepted.
