National Trail Cross Country grabs two second place team finishes at Brookville Invitational

BROOKVILLE — The National Trail Cross Country teams picked up a pair of second place finishes when they traveled to the Brookville Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12.

For the girls, the second place finish comes after the team placed four runners in the top 25. Evan Byrd led the way with a fifth place finish with a time of 21 minutes, 06 seconds. Hannah Wellman finished 15th with a time of 22:22, 21 seconds later Natalie Hunt finished 18th, and JaLynn Byrd finished 24th with a time of 25:53.

Lily Carpenter finished 35th with a time of 24:08, and Casey Thompson finished 58th in a time of 28:28.

The boys also put four runners in the top 25, as Adam Eyler led the way with a time of 17:57 for a tenth place finish.

Peyton Harrison finished 17th with a time of 18:41, Lane Unger was steps behind him in 18th with a time of 18:43, West Haws made his way into the top 25, finishing 25th in a time of 19:01. Josh Cook narrowly missed the top 25, finishing in 30th with a time of 19:13.

Head coach James Byrd said he felt his team had a strong run, and believes his teams are on pace for a good season as they continue to get stronger each week.

The Blazers are scheduled to run in the Cedarville Invitational Saturday, Sept 19.
