Eaton in second year under new coach

EATON — Eaton girls soccer team is now in its second year under Michael Bacher’s direction. He was hired late last year and did not have a full off-season with the team before the season began.

Bacher now has a year under his belt and feels he is finally building the program he had envisioned.

“I am benefiting from having a full off-season with the team. It all stats with integrating with the local youth program and getting us all on the same page in what we are coaching and teaching the girls. I was able to do that this year,” he said. “I have always been a coach who likes things to happen over night and I am realizing that in order to institute what I am coaching, it is a progression and the girls are adapting well.”

The Lady Eagles return plenty of talent back to the field for the upcoming season – crammed with many seniors.

The seniors are Madi Couch, Madison Bowman, Kirsten Walker, Hannah Wray, Kayla Blaich, Hannah Thompson, and Kayla Blaich.

The seven are poised to make this a memorable season, said Bacher.

“Hannah Wray is coming back from to two crucial injuries to provide a lot of heart to the team as well as great leadership from Madison Couch. Madison Bowman is our brick wall in the back and Kirsten Walker is our right place, right time striker,” he said.

They also bring in juniors Jessica Spitler, Mariyah McKelvin, Hallie Wit, Cadence Jerdon, and Ashley Lehman; sophmores Kate Bulach, Chelsea Cruze, and Lauren Ferguson; and freshmen Tyler Pittman and Emily Dungan.

Other players Ashlyn Black, Anna Black, Ashlyn McKee, and Taylor Brooks are expected to compete for playing time as well.

They opened up their season with a 4-0 loss against Edgewood on Saturday, Aug. 22.

The are scheduled to host Preble Shawnee on Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7:15 p.m.
