WEST ALEXANDRIA — Twin Valley South’s girls’ basketball team dropped a pair of games last week to fall to 4-15 on the season.
The Panthers opened the week with a 51-33 setback to Dayton Dunbar on Tuesday, Feb.7.
South was led by junior Kelsie Shafer, who scored 12 points. Emily Hutchings added six and Madison Johnson chipped in with four.
Dumbar jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter, but South closed the gap to six by halftime, 27-21.
In the second half, South was outscored 24-12. The Panthers only scored four points in the third quarter.
On Thursday, South hosted Cross County Conference foe Ansonia and suffered a 57-47 loss.
Junior Mylan Crews led the Panthers with 17 points, while Shafer scored 16. Hutchings added six.
The Panthers trailed 18-11 after the first quarter and was behind 31-24 at the half. Ansonia extended its lead to 45-34 after three.
South was scheduled to play at rival Tri-County North on Monday, Feb. 6. They are also scheduled to play at Bethel on Thursday, Feb.9 and will close out the regular season with an away game at Mississinawa Valley on Saturday, Feb. 11.
