Congratulations to residents of the Twin Valley School District!

The School Grade Cards are out for the schools of the State of Ohio. I am so proud of our Twin Valley School District students. I just read an article printed in the Feb. 26 edition of the Dayton Daily News. The headlines revealed the Dayton, Ohio Schools to be the worst in Ohio. So sorry for those kids who find themselves in that district. Little was mentioned about Preble County Schools, but there was a very understandable chart which listed the grades given to all the five school districts of Preble County.

The results were less than something to celebrate except for the Twin Valley School District. While other county schools had grades of all Cs and Ds and even Fs — Twin Valley had an “A” and a “B” grade. The state test scores dropped locally and statewide and the grading system was called “controversial,” but it’s all we have for now.

We definitely need some accountability for the public dollars spent on education. I agree this grading system has growing pains and can stand to be reviewed. However, I feel we should applaud loudly what has been accomplished in our Twin Valley Local Schools system! Our administrators, teachers, and all of our staff (busdrivers, cafeteria workers, building janitorial staff, and etc. included)—-all contribute to the growth, education, and well-being of our students. They have done a stellar job. Please remember to thank all of them for helping our students succeed. I am proud of our Twin Valley School District and I am proud that my grandsons are students there. Keep up the good work!
