Blue Star Moms say ‘thanks’

The Blue Star Mothers of America Oh 11, held our 10th annual Holiday Hugs Christmas Packing Party on Dec. 3.

This year we packed 192 soldier boxes and seven K-9 dog boxes. Each year we are truly humbled and blessed by the outpouring of our community to step up and help us, and this year was no exception.

There are a few people we would like to thank: Connie and Rick Martin and WCFO K-9 dance stars and especially their fur kids Diesel and Gracie who came and entertained us.

Connie — I asked you if you would be interested in donating to our K-9 packing and you ran with it, contacting everyone you know. You brought more toys, treats, tennis balls etc, than we had ever possibly hoped to collect, and for that we are so thankful.

Mrs. Judd and her career based kids from Twin Valley South — each year you show up and do whatever we ask and this year was the no exception, Thank you so very much.

We made new friends in the women of the DAR, thank you for helping, we hope to partner with you in the future.

To Little Caesars — for the last two years you have provided our volunteers with lots and lots of pizza, we are so thankful as it is hard work packaging all those boxes.

L &M Products, thank you so much for the use of the rooms this year, and especially thank you for the 200 stockings, candy bags and toiletries bags you assembled for us, and the 200 boxes you taped together for us. We are so thankful for all your help.

This year, like with all the rest, we thank everyone who donated products or money to help us provide a little Christmas to our soldiers far away. Being military moms, we live with deployments and long stretches away for our kids and sometimes we think no one really cares that we have soldiers in harm’s way all over the world fighting for us — but each year we realize that even though it might not be foremost on most people’s minds, when a soldier or soldier’s mom needs help, we can count on our community.

So thank you again from the Blue Star Mothers of America, Oh 11, Eaton.

Linda Samuels

President, Oh 11
