EATON — The Parkinson Support Group will meet at the Preble County Senior Center, 800 East St. Clair Street, Eaton, Ohio on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 3-4 p.m. The facilitator for the meeting is Jim Straszheim. This meeting is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.

“higi” Station Now at Senior Center! Thanks to a generous donation by Reid Health, a higi Station is now located at the Preble County Senior Center. The higi Station is a quick and easy way to get updated on your basic health statistics. Currently, you’ll find a higi Station in many retail pharmacies. The higi Station is designed to easily measure Weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), Pulse and Blood Pressure. Tracking these four statistics together is key to early detection of hypertension, diabetes and other treatable health conditions. The Station also provides users a higi Score, which is a measure of overall well-being based on body statistics, knowledge, and community.

Space is still available on Preble County Senior Center mini-trips. The final two mini-trips of the year will take place in October and November. Medicare Open Enrollment begins October 15. Every year, Medicare’s open enrollment period is October 15 – December 7. If your plans are changing, you should make sure your plans will still meet your needs for the following year. If your satisfied that your current plans will meet your needs for next year and it’s still being offered, you don’t need to do anything. For more information about Medicare Open Enrollment, contact Bev Shindeldecker (I&R Specialist at the Preble County Senior Center) at 937-456-4947.
