Eaton Little League’s Bigs All-Star team won the Ohio state tournament Saturday, July 12, and will now head to Michigan for the regional tournament.

Of the 17-member team, five of the players are from Eaton.

The team played teams from Mason and Fairland. The Bigs won the championship game against Fairland 10-6. Team Manager Dave Beckett said the team was able to get good hits when they needed them and said their pitchers performed well.

“Pitching was very well intact that day,” Beckett said.

They won their first game against Mason, 3-2.

To make the All-Star team, there was a district-wide tryout for boys. The other players came from Kettering, Hardscrabble, Englewood and Moraine-West Carrollton.

Beckett said they are nervous to see what they will face in Michigan. He said the team needs to work on getting more key hits, but said their pitching and defense is good.
