Tri-County North’s track team will have two representatives at the upcoming Division III regional track meet at Troy.
Junior Austin Johnson placed second in the 300-meter hurdles at the Dayton Division III District meet Saturday, May 24, at Welcome Stadium, with a time of 41.51 to qualify.
Senior Megan McClain will continue her high school career for at least one more week as she placed second in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 10 inches.
McClain nearly pulled off advancing in two events but came up one spot shy as she placed 5th in the pole vault by clearing 7-6.
Also falling one spot shy of the regional bid was Trey Summers. Summers placed 5th in the long jump going 19-8 1/4.
The Panther boys’ team also scored points in the 4x800-meter relay. The team of Gage Hogan, Urmil Patel, Aiden Tomlin, T.J. Tahmassebi finished 7th with a time of 9:23.46.
The 4x100 relay team of Summers, Austin Johnson, T.J. Tahmassebi, Jesse Cavendish was 6th in 46.49.
Cavendish had a busy day.
He placed 6th in the 400-meters in 53.86 and was 8th in the 200 in 25.44.
As a team, North’s boys tallied 21 points and finished 11th in the 16-team field. North’s girls totaled 12 points and was 16th in the 18-team field.
The Division III regional meet with be held on Wednesday, May 28 and Friday, May 30
McClain is scheduled to compete in the regional final Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Johnson will run in the prelims the same night. Running final are scheduled for Friday.
