Cameron Willis blistered the Cherry Blossom Golf Course with a bogey-free final round 67 enroute to a five-shot win in the Boys 15-19 division. The event was held March 8-9.
Willis started the final round three shots behind leader Andrew Walker of Birmingham, MI then went on a tear by recording birdies on four of his first eight holes of the final round. He notched his fifth birdie against no bogeys at the 14th hole for a final-round score that was seven shots better than the next-closest competitor.
The victory marked Willis’ first on the Golfweek Junior Tour and his third top-5 finish.
His final total of 78-67—145 kept him five shots clear of Walker, who finished alone in second at 75-75—150.
Sister Sarah Willis shot 83-81, solid early season scores to earn her a 3rd place finish.
Cameron’s win earned him an invitation to the Golfweek Junior West Coast Invitational which will be held in Phoenix, AZ at the Mesa Golf Course in May.
Sarah will be competing in Augusta at the Drive, Chip and Putt Contest to be held Sunday, April 6, at the Augusta National Golf Club. The competition will be broadcast on the Golf Channel at 8 a.m. Willis competes in the 13 year old division which begins at 9:30 a.m.
