“Free” Back to School Supplies

The Little Shoppe of Sharing of the Camden United Methodist Church will be holding registration for the Preble Shawnee students and families in need of school supplies and shoes every Wednesday in June and July from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church on Lafayette St. An adult with I.D. must accompany any student. For more information contact Eshelle Bales at 937-533-0287.


Congratulations to Betty (Combs) Shanefelt of West Elkton on her recent retirement from Gratis BP. Betty plans to travel with her husband.

Public Safety Day

Members of the Gratis Volunteer Fire Department, Gratis EMS, and Gratis Twp. West Elkton Fire Department will hold Public Safety Day at the Gratis Dollar General on July 19 from 12-5 p.m. Fun and activities


Congratulations to Gratis Twp. Road Superintendent, Vic Stamper who recently retired. We wish him the best and thank him for his years of community service which also include Deputy Sheriff, Police Chief, and Firefighter.


Plan now for the Gratis Fellowship of Churches Community Bible School to be held July 21-25 at the First Brethren Church. Fun for all ages.


Congratulations to Joshua and Stephanie (Taylor) Forrer who were wed in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. June 21 accompanied by family and close friends. The couple, both of whom work fire and EMS will reside in Gratis.

The Downtown Gratis Days Committee would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s event a success. Soccer Camp a Success

The first annual Preble Shawnee High School soccer camp held June 16-19 was well attended. Approximately 40 players from kindergarten to high school took part in this free camp. Coach Rod Forrer would like to thank Jake Essig for coaching the camp and the following sponsors for donating money to pay for it: Camden Medical Building, Camden BP, Gratis Eagles #4289, Gratis Shell, Gratis Twp. West Elkton and Camden Somers Twp. Fire Associations, Twin Valley Bank, and Mama Mac’s Pizza.
