The Gratis Council, with assistance from Mote & Associates, Inc., is conducting an income survey of households located in the village. In these economic times, the village is striving to make a concerted effort to seek out grant sources, but need the help of the residents in order to do so.

The information to be obtained will be used to establish the village’s eligibility for grants through various governmental programs. Through the procurement of grant dollars, infrastructure improvements can be made at a reduced cost to the village, including continued improvements to the village’s water system and work on street improvements. These grant dollars also help to minimize utility cost increases to village residents.

Some residents will be receiving a mailing from the village that will include a survey form and letter explaining how to complete the survey. This survey will request some household information to determine the village’s overall grant eligibility.

The village would appreciate everyone completing the information requested and then returning the form by leaving it in the utility night deposit, returning it when you pay your utility bill, or by dropping it off at the village office. An envelope will be provided with the mailing that can also be used to return the survey directly to Mote & Associates, Inc.

All surveys will remain confidential and will be used in a collective manner to determine information for the village as a whole. A minimum number of surveys must be received in order for the survey to be certified by the State of Ohio. If this is not achieved through the return of the surveys by mail, someone will contact you by visiting your home to obtain the information so the survey can be complete. Mote & Associates, Inc. will compile the surveys and provide data analysis. The village asks that everyone return their surveys no later than March 14.

Any questions regarding the surveys may be directed to Kathy Lewis Mayor, at 937-787-3728. The mayor and council thank the residents for their continued support and assistance.
