A head-on collision occurred Tuesday, Feb. 25, on Ohio 122 near Greenbush Road, sending one driver to the hospital via CareFlight.

The crash involved 66-year-old Toby J. Smith of Trenton and 80-year-old Robert E. Terrill of Somerville, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.

The collision was reported at approximately 6:40 p.m. last Tuesday when Smith’s Chevrolet Malibu, traveling north, veered left-of center, striking Terrill’s Ford Fusion, which was south-bound.

The head-on collision left both drivers trapped in their vehicles, which required rescue crews to cut both drivers free. Terrill was cut from the driver’s-side door, while Smith had to be removed from her vehicle from the top of her car, according to the OSP.

The collision left Smith in critical condition. She was transported to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton via CareFlight. Her condition was unknown at press time.

Terrill, however, was treated for minimal injuries, and was released from the Middletown Atrium Hospital the same day, according to troopers.

Alcohol was ruled out as a factor in the collision, however the investigation continued at press time.
