Pork Chop Dinner


American Legion Post 665, West Manchester, will host a Pork Chop Dinner Friday, April 25 beginning at 5 p.m. Cost for the meal is $8. Dessert will be available for $1 and will be provided by the Women’s Auxiliary.


DAV meetings


Disabled American Veterans meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m., at 210 N. Commerce Street, Lewisburg. Members are encouraged to attend. Veterans looking for a home legion are welcomed to come. Active duty and younger veterans are encouraged to become members as well.


American Legion Post 215

The American Legion Post 215, Eaton, will host Ladies Night every Monday. Thursday is $3.50 Burger and Fry Night. Euchre will be played Sundays at 3 p.m. First 25 drawings will be held on Mondays. There will be a pork chop dinner from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 11; and Bingo at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. SAL meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, and Queen Drawings at 8 p.m. each Wednesday. There will be a fish fry from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 18, and a Swiss steak dinner from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 25.

VFW Post 975 & Aux.

VFW Post 975 & Aux., Lewisburg, will have a breakfast buffet on Saturday, April 12, from 7-10 a.m. Breakfast is all-you-can-eat, $7 adults, $3.50 ages 7-12; under 6 years, free. This meal is open to the public. Located at 210 N. Commerce Street. Call 937-902-5699 or 937-689-3461 for carryouts. Menu consists of biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, coffee and juice. Breakfast is served the second Saturday of every month, weather permitting.


VFW Post 8066

The VFW 8066, 401 W. Lexington Rd., Eaton, holds it monthly meetings on the First Monday of each month. The Ladies Auxiliary meets the second Monday of the month; the Men’s Auxiliary meets the third Monday of the month. The VFW is open Thursday and Friday at 2 p.m. and Wednesday and Sunday at 11 a.m. The post is closed Monday and Tuesday. A live band performs every Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. A meal is served until 6 p.m. for $4. Red Key Karaoke is on Friday nights from 7-11:30 p.m., with food to order. Ladies’ Aux. Post 215

The Women’s Auxiliary of Post 215 American Legion, Eaton, meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Post, 1000 U. S. 35 West, Eaton, Ohio. We are always welcoming new members. If you would like to honor the Veteran in your family, please attend one of our meetings and see what we are all about. Our mission is to support Veterans and their families in our community. We have various fund raisers throughout the year and use the proceeds to provide financial help to Veterans’ and their families in need. We work closely with the local VA office to ensure that our gifts are used locally.


The next big project we are working on is our Spring Vendors and Crafters Fair, which is scheduled for May 3, at the Post. We showcase local vendors and crafters and their wares and it is always an interesting and fun day. You can find many unique items to purchase for Mother’s Day, birthdays or other gift occasions.

The Preble County Job Center located in Eaton has a new veteran’s representative on site every Monday from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The representative can assist with employment questions and any other questions you may have. Contact Ana McFarlane at 937-456-6224, Option 2.

PC Veterans Service ID Cards

Preble County Veteran Services is now offering honorably discharged veterans the opportunity to have a picture identification card. You may obtain your ID card at Veterans Services at no cost to you. You must bring a copy of your DD214 verifying character of discharge. For additional information you may contact Veterans Services at 937-456-6111.

Attention Local Merchants…“We Care” Program

In an effort to acknowledge the sacrifices of our local veterans and to promote spending within our own community, Preble County Veteran Services has launched a new program entitled “We Care”. Veteran Services will supply local honorably discharged veterans with an official “picture identification card” which would be presented to local businesses when making their purchases. The veteran would then receive a discount from the total cost of the purchase. We have sixteen businesses’ currently enrolled in the program. If your business would like to participate in this program, contact Veteran Services at 108 N. Barron St., Eaton.
