BBQ Chicken and Pork Chop Dinner

The West Alex Celebration Committee is having a BBQ Chicken and Pork Chop Dinner, Sunday, Feb. 23 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Drive-thru pick up at the W. Alex Police Department. Half of a chicken dinner is $7 or 3/4lb. pork chop dinner is $8. Choice of two sides, (green beans, apples sauce and coleslaw) and dinner roll. Order ahead by calling Carol Lunsford at 937-839-4085 or pick up order forms and drop off or mail to The Pin Up Shoppe, 50 W. Second St. or at the W. Alex Library or Michelle Laughlin at 41 W. Second Street. Due by Feb. 19. Proceeds will help fund the Fourth of July Fireworks for the village.

Sons of the American Legion

SAL will have their next All-you-can-eat Breakfast on Sunday, March 2 from 8 - 11 a.m.; cost is $7 at James E. Ryan Post 322, 1477 Ohio 503 South in West Alexandria.

Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club

Venison for Food Banks

The Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club semi-annual Turkey Shoot takes place every Sunday from Feb. 23 through April 27, 2014. Starting time is 1p.m. This event is open to everyone and we hope to see a nice crowd. This is our main fundraiser each year. Come on out and win turkeys, hams, bacon and packages of mixed kinds of meat. Money shoots are also held.

The Venison for Food Banks of Preble County program is on-going. Anyone who takes a deer can donate all or part of the meat for the Foodbanks. We have sponsors who will take care of the processing fees. You may contact Brad Turner, Preble County Game Warden, or Curtis Early at 937-533-3226.

TVS Band

Marching Band Cook Books make great gifts at just $10 each. Sales are first come, first served! Please contact TVS HS Band Director, Kris Baker, Booster President Kathy Landwehr at 336-2511 or any Band member. Checks should be made out to TVS Band Boosters and can also be mailed to P.O. Box 204, West Alexandria, OH 45381. We appreciate your support. If you are interested in becoming a part of our Band Boosters, please join us on the third Tuesday of each month in the TVS Band Room at 7 p.m. We always need fresh faces and ideas!


Items needed are tuna, instant oatmeal, egg noodles, box mashed potatoes, pancake syrup, spaghetti sauce, and shampoo. You may contact the Foodbank at 839-1615. Hours are Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at St. John Church, 20 East South Street.

The first Sunday of each month, non-perishable donations can be brought to Salem and St. John Lutheran Churches.

WACOCA Hymn Sing

Salem Lutheran Church will host the WACOCA Community Hymn Sing on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. Join us as churches from all around the community come together in songs and fellowship at 70 E. Dayton Street next to Peace Park in West Alexandria.

Church of the Brethren

“Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage” presents a seminar based on God’s principles for a successful marriage and will be held at The West Alexandria Church of the Brethren, 20 East Oak Street, West Alexandria, on Friday, Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m., starting with Dinner at Buckeye Jake’s, 113 East Dayton Street. After dinner the seminar will start at 7 p.m. and on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. This video seminar is conducted by a Video Presenter from “Laugh Your Way America” and is a male-friendly, wildly entertaining and informative marriage event that brings hope and positive change to marriages. St. John Lutheran

St. John along with Salem Lutheran and Trinity in Lewisburg are planning a work trip geared towards all ages, individuals and families this summer, June 15-22 in Booneville, Arkansas. The work trip will be organized through the Youthworks organization. The price to attend is $269 per person. There will be a few fundraisers planned in the upcoming months to help raise money for those who may need financial assistance. Community Christian Church

Salem Lutheran Church

Salem’s Annual Congregational Meeting has been rescheduled for Feb. 23 immediately following the Worship service.

Salem LYO will be hosting a soup lunch directly after worship service on Sunday, March 2 in Fellowship Hall. This will be an opportunity to meet the new youth director Lindsay Watson, mingle with our youth, and enjoy fellowship with each other.

S.O.S. will attend LaComedia’s Menopause the Musical on March 15 at a discounted price of $50 per front row ticket. Reservations are limited to 26 seats. Contact Diana Wall at 937-839-5326.

The Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study will begin at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22 in the Fellowship Hall.

Salem is collecting “Coups for Troops”. Coupons up to two months expired are accepted overseas for our military personnel to use at the commissaries. Place coupons in the basket located in the Church Library.

Children’s Choir practices begin at 9:20 a.m., Sunday School classes for all ages begin at 9:30 a.m. and Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday.
