Last week Tim Simmons, a former board member, was sworn in to fill an open position on the Lakengren Board of Trustees. Tim is cognizant of the challenges regarding the day-to-day business and future responsibilities and goals.
The Financial Planning Committee was delightedly happy that Lakengren residents responded well to their recent online survey. Comments with regard to the pool, the lodge, and future financial operation will help this committee guide the Association through their Five Year Plan.
Their website and the Lakengren newspaper will provide important strategies about the results for future usage of all their facilities.
On the Road Again
Today the Women’s Club will whip on down to the La Comedia Theatre for lunch and a stage play. The group will meet briefly at the lodge before departure for a short business meeting, wherein a slate of office will be announced for their election to be held in May.
Please note that since the Dragons will not be holding their annual ham & bean dinner this year, the ladies will get a break from kitchen duties of baking tasty desserts for the men’s club.
Pastor Gerry Sadai and Sugar Valley United Methodist Church will once again hold an Easter Sunrise and Worship Service on April 20 at the Lakengren Marina Club House at 8 a.m. Following his message of The Resurrection, everyone is invited back to his home church at 3022 Camden-Sugar Valley Road for a breakfast.
Within the A & E report this month, it is noted a special family event is on the horizon. It’s called an Open Mic Night set for Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at the Lodge. The community is invited to bring their instruments to play along with a professional musical entertainer. Singers, harmonica players, juice harp, or you-name-it fall under this category. Bring a snack and beverage, if you like, to enjoy this fun entertaining evening.
Rods and Reels
Yep, it’s spring because the Lakengren Marine Committee will be conducting their first Open Bass Tournament this year on April 27.
Two entrants per boat and completion of an entry form and fee of $80 must be registered. If a full field of 60 boats are registered, a first prize would bring $1,000 and a trophy, plus other varying denominations. Biggest Bass gets 75 percent of the Big Bass Pot and 2nd Biggest Bass receives 25 percent of the pot. For tournament information call Bruce Clark at 937-472-2020.
Water Emergency Plan
Very soon the Gasper Township Fire Department and the Lakengren Security will be working together to formulate a water rescue emergency plan. As this plan is developed, its progress will be followed and announced through Lakengren publications and on their website.
