Editor:

Thank you very much to all of our customers that made donations to our food drive on Saturday, May 9.

A total of 2150 pounds of food and other items, as well as $25 were collected in Eaton, Camden and Gratis. This year’s totals aren’t in yet but 72.5 million pounds of food was collected last year nationwide. More than 1.3 billion pounds of food have been collected and distributed since the food drive began in 1992. 1995 was our first year of participating in this event and a total of 66,450 pounds of food and other items have been collected and distributed in Preble County in those 21 years. This event is held every year in May as postal workers across the country try to help their local food banks “stamp out hunger.”

Along with our customers, we want to thank the Family Dollar Store on North Barron Street , Dollar General Store on South Barron Street in Eaton and Camden Fresh Foods for letting us put food barrels in the their stores for food donations. Thanks, also, to the Eaton Church of the Brethren, the food bank volunteers in Eaton, Camden, and Gratis, the Once Around Shop staff, the managers at the Eaton, Camden, and Gratis Post Offices as well as all of our co-workers at the post office for all of their help. All donations will help families in need in Preble County. Thanks again for your support!

Susan Fudge, Steve Jarrell and all Eaton city carriers
