Around the ‘Burg
With Janet and Judy
How many days until Christmas?
With only three days until Christmas break, I believe that we will be exchanging one chaos for another. Trying to meet the family needs is often very stressful and very pressing. Where has this year gone? School started in August and we’re almost halfway through. It isn’t possible!
Christmas activities in Lewisburg have slowed down for just a while but will speed into GO before Christmas Eve. We have heard of multiple services in and around Lewisburg but will pull those times all together for next week’s article. Please support these events which folks have worked so hard to prepare.
We sure wish that we had a better report to share but all of us are still dealing with crazy medical issues. Judy is still sneezing, coughing and feeling very tired. Michelle has the beginnings of a cold. I am just ready to relax. High blood sugars, up and down temperatures and a serious infection have altered my eyesight making it very hard to read anything. However, we plan on having a great time this holiday season.
We were so blessed to have Kevin and his family in from Texas over Thanksgiving week. If you’ll let me brag just a little, my granddaughter, Stori, placed third overall in her rodeo events and won a beautiful silver buckle with the year and the events on it. She also had a buckle which was as big as my head which was embossed with ‘B R A T”. I told her I didn’t know they gave an award for that (I could have used those when the boys were growing up!) She was quick to inform me that “B R A T” stands for Barrel Racing Association of Texas. She is living the life I only dreamed of. Her little sister, Taia, is still enjoying her school of the performing arts which means a daily drive to Fort Worth. She loves being in front of an audience. (I wonder where she gets that?)
I also learned that there is another grandchild on the way! When you see Craig and Heather, just say “congratulations!” We’re having a summer baby this time. You will no doubt be hearing updates as things progress.
Wednesday, Dec. 18 Neighbor Night at Trinity Lutheran Church. Dinner is served at 5-6:30 p.m. Come and enjoy an evening of fun and fellowship.
The Christmas festivities have been completed at the Garber Nature Center but there will be new adventures after the first of the year. The Preble County Park District is trying to save several ash trees from being destroyed by the ash borer so that the trees will be around for future generations to enjoy. The treatment is very expensive and they can use some financial help. Donations can be made by check, made payable to Preble County Park District, and mailed c/o Probate Court, 101 E. Main Street, Eaton, OH 45320. For 501© information, please call 937-962-5561. On the memo line of your check, please write “Ash Trees”. A receipt will be mailed to you. Any help you can provide will be most appreciated.
Get those gifts wrapped , cookies and candies made, house all prepared for the family but don’t forget to rest and relax. Enjoy the fun!
There is spirit; there is grace in our peaceful country place. Until next week… See you Around the Burg!
