Aren’t all the Lakengren residents happy that the dreaded detour to our entrance and Ohio 732 is over? If you have not driven by the improvements at the intersection of Winters Road and 732, take a little drive and check out how the State of Ohio made the roadway safe for all of us weary travelers.
Women’s Club on the Road
Today the LWC is to meet earlier than planned, 9 a.m. at the Lodge for a short business meeting before heading to Magaw’s Art Gallery in Boston, Indiana. Then on to Mrs. Wick’s Restaurant & Pies in Greenville, Ohio, followed by a tour through the Silver Towne Mint in Winchester, Indiana. Program coordinator is Mary Henson and various drivers will load the ladies and take them for this afternoon of adventure.
Concert Series brings the Worley’s
The Summer Concert Series is featuring the becoming-famous Worley Boys tomorrow night, July 3 at 7 p.m. at the Marina. You may come by boat, cart, auto, bicycles, walking, or a horse if you have one.
The first two concerts were crowd pleasers, and we’re sure our homegrown Worley’s will be no exception.
Time for Candidate Resumes
Office Manager of the LPOA requested an announcement that residents should be considering filling for any open position on the boards for the LPOA and the LWA. Call Tamela Moore at 456-3173 to inquire about the specifications necessary.
Chairs and Tables Look Great
Next time you are at the Lodge, go upstairs and check out the two high top tables and four chairs recently purchased by the A & E Committee for your convenience while visiting and/or playing games. These amenities are but a few of the wonderful items now added to the game room facilities.
Seen a Dragon Anywhere?
The Men’s Club of Lakengren called the Dragons, want to know if you have seen a loose dragon within the community? That elusive green monster is out there hiding so we do not put him in the new dunk tank that the Gasper Township Fire Department will operate. Jack Block Fun Day will be here before we know it, and the secret is now out that Logan, the Dragon, is hiding from the children of Lakengren.
Saturday, July 19, beginning at High Noon, that green dragon will be fair game for the kids. Come visit the Lodge to see what other new games and ideas will be introduced this year for the 35th anniversary of Jack Block Fun Day.
If you would like to volunteer to grill hot dogs, dip ice cream, judge a watermelon-eating contest, balloon toss and other games on the beach and the shaded meadow, just give a jingle to the LPOA office staff and add your name and phone number. Fun stuff is planned and fun stuff is what it will be for you and the whole family.
Now Hear This
The huge tub that sat all winter on the beach area of Lake Lakengren has moved and is being readied for Operational Dredging. General Manager Kevin Thorpe reported during the June 23 LPOA meeting that the North End of the lake will be the next area of operation.
In order to keep this project safe for the maintenance staff and residents, please do not operate your watercraft around the equipment. The LPOA Board of Trustees is thanking you for your patience in advance.
