Deanna Raper, Reid Hospital’s April Ambassador, has been a Reid team member for over 11 years in the Respiratory Care department. She is currently a clinical instructor for Respiratory Care and has been a respiratory therapist for 26 years. Deanna previously worked at the Children’s Hospital in Dayton, University of Kentucky Medical Hospital and McCullough-Hyde Hospital. She received her in training respiratory care from the Kettering College of Medical Arts.
Nominators consistently mention Deanna’s dependability and dedication to patients and staff. “Deanna comes in on off-hours to accommodate her co-workers and our patients,” said a manager. “Deanna is passionate about her work and that shows when she is teaching or caring for patients,” said a unit manager. “Deanna is respected throughout the hospital as a resource when clinical questions arise,” said a training coordinator. “Deanna is a positive and outstanding person whom we are lucky to have in the Respiratory Care department,” said a coworker. “Deanna’s dedication and excellent spirit and attitude toward Reid exemplify the highest standards. She sacrifices her personal time whenever anyone needs her and never considers it a sacrifice,” said a coworker.
Deanna is married to Bob Raper, who works at Motorola Solutions. They live on a 180 acre farm in Boston, Indiana. While Deanna is from New Paris, she had never experienced farm life until she married Bob 12 years ago. They have two sons, Dalton and Clayton. Dalton is a sophomore at Trine University and is on their football team. Clayton is in the fifth grade at Test and enjoys wrestling and football. Also a part of the family is Cody, a black lab mix dog they rescued a couple of years ago.
Deanna likes to follow her boys in their sports activities and she serves on the missions committee at her church. She also likes to garden and can vegetables. In her down time, she enjoys computer games, getting together with church friends and camping with her family. They have a truck camper and traveled west last summer to Yellowstone and Grand Canyon National Parks and to Mt. Rushmore National Memorial.
Deanna loves working with Reid staff to help others. “I am just blessed to be a small part of Reid,” said Deanna.
