Special meeting

The Eaton Board of Education will meet in special session on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. in the East Elementary cafeteria, for an executive session to discuss the employment of a public official or employee.

Road closure

Beginning Oct. 19, Monebrake Road is closed between Swain Road and Eaton Gettysburg Road for approximately four weeks for a full bridge replacement. This closure will be specifically between Box 4635 and 4184.This closure will be closed to all traffic. Stay updated on this closure by viewing the website at www.prebeng.org.

Meeting change

The Board of Education of the College Corner Local School District has changed the meeting date for the month of November 2015. The meeting was originally scheduled for Monday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. in the board of education office at the College Corner Elementary School at 230 Ramsey Street, College Corner, Ohio. The meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the same time and location.

Story Time

The Gratis Public Library will be hosting story hour on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. and will feature stories, crafts, games and snacks.

Track-n-Treat set for Oct. 20

Little ghosts and goblins who may not be quite ready for trick or treat on Halloween will discover that “Track-n-Treat” is just for them. Open to youngsters’ ages 0-10 and their families, this friendly Halloween event will be held on Oct. 20 from 5-6:30 p.m. on the Susan Melzer Walking Path adjacent to the A.S.K. Playground, 201 E. Lexington Road, Eaton.

Open to the public, this 8th annual event continues to grow each year. Last year, approximately 200 children and their families enjoyed “begging for treats” from costumed characters, including pirates, witches and many more friendly ghosts and goblins. Participants also enjoyed hay rides, a petting zoo, face painting, fire trucks, a police car and more will be there. Call 937-456-5891 ext. 124 for additional information.

College Corner EFS available

The General Purpose External Financial Statements, Modified Cash Basis, for the fiscal year ended June 30, of the College Corner Local School District, are complete and on file at the school, 230 Ramsey Street, College Corner, Ohio. They are available for review upon request.

Meeting change

The October and November regular meetings of the Preble County Educational Service Center Governing Board scheduled for Wednesday Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. and Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. have been changed to Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m.

Jacob’s Ladder

Jacobs Ladder volunteers’ pack dates for the year include: Oct. 28, Dec. 2, Jan. 6, Feb. 3, March 2, April 6 and May 4.

COG meeting

The Preble County Schools Regional Council of Governments will be meeting on Monday, Oct. 26, at 9 a.m., at the Preble County Educational Service Center, 597 Hillcrest Drive, Eaton. Purpose of the meeting is to review insurance programs and any other business which needs to be brought before the COG at that time.

Camden Craft Club Breakfast

Every third Saturday from 7-11 a.m., there will be an “all-you-can-eat” breakfast in the Camden Masonic Dining Room (above the Camden library). The meal will consist of sausage, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, apples, potato casserole, orange juice, and coffee. The meal will cost $6 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. A chairlift is available on location to help attendees reach the second floor.

PCSWD meetings

Third Wednesday of each Month- The Preble Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors conducts monthly board meetings at 7 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Preble SWCD Office, 1651 N. Barron St., Eaton. Meeting dates for 2015 will be: Oct. 21, Nov. 18, Dec. 16.

PCDL meetings

The Preble County District Library Board of Trustees 2015 meeting dates are as follows: Oct. 26 and Nov. 23. All meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. at the PCDL Administration Office, located at 450 S. Barron St. in Eaton.

TCN meetings

The Tri-County North Board of Education has announced that the regular board meetings for 2015 will be at 7:30 p.m. each month in the Tri-County North Lecture Room. The meeting dates are as follows: Nov. 16 and Dec. 21.

Twin Township meetings

The Board of Twin Township Trustees will have their regular monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. The meetings will be at 1251 Ohio 503 North in West Alexandria at 6 p.m. Notices of any special, emergency or executive meetings will be posted at the Township House on the bulletin board at the front of the building. The public is welcome to attend the meetings.

Drug recovery

The 7-Pillars Drug Recovery Program will meet at 7 p.m. each Monday night at 705 N. Barron Street in Eaton. For more information, call 1-801-SET-FREE.

Parkinson’s Support Group

A new Parkinson’s Support group is being created, and meetings will be held the third Thursday of each month at 3 p.m. at the Eaton Senior Center, 800 E. St. Clair Street. Contact Jim Straszheim, 937-456-6352 or 937-456-4947 for additional information.
