EATON — The Eaton FFA chapter this past spring distributed placemats to local restaurants and stores, as well as the five Preble County elementary schools, in order to raise awareness about agriculture during the week of National Ag Day, which was March 15.

With generous donations, the Eaton FFA chapter was able to print 7,500 placemats and buy pencils for everyone who participated in the coloring contest that was included on the placemat. Top submissions also were awarded first through sixth place ribbons for seven different categories as well as a people’s choice award prize.

The chapter would like to thank the donors who were: Brubaker Grain, Preble County Farm Bureau, Eaton Ace Hardware, Steinke Tractor Sales, Preble County Agricultural Society, and Bane-Welker Equipment. The FFA chapter ended up having almost 500 entries for the coloring competition, from all five of the county schools and several local restaurants and stores. The placemats were also used at the Eaton MVCTC FFA’s annual banquet, where around 200 people were served. Voting was held that night as well for the “People’s Choice” award.

The “People’s Choice” award winner was Dakota Carder, who was also the first place winner at Twin Valley South. In second through sixth places, respectively, at Twin Valley South were: Ryliee Caldwell, Willow Crowe, Cuyler Emig, Trey Sturgill, and Katie Betzner. At National Trail the first through sixth place winners were: Vicky Shouffel, Molly Hall, Jaelynn, Hannah Studebaker, Tianna Leal, and Taylor Reynolds. At Preble Shawnee the first through sixth places winners were: Bree Dalton, Eliza Jones, Landon Ronto, Ryleigh Gibbs, Braylon Morton, and Lainey Hawley. The top six winners at Eaton’s East Elementary were: Madelyn Driver, Brynlee Hamilton, Sawyer Keating, Gabe Sawesky, Emma Myers, and Trevor Lenson. At Eaton’s Bruce Elementary the top six were: Hailey Henderson, Dalton, Logan Coates, Garrett Cole, Luke Shrimper, and Eric Allison. At Tri-County North the top six were: Ella Statzer, Audrey, Caitlyn Caudill, Adisson Sage, Alandra Waddle, and Luke Wright. Out of all the restaurants and stores where placemats were entered the first through sixth place winners were: Diane Ross, Jaelyn Singleton, Derrick Michael, Evan Arnos, Brady Arnos, and Summer.

Congratulations to all of these winners and great job to everyone who participated!
