OXFORD — On Thursday, Sept. 22, the Oxford Community Arts Center will host the third annual Beer Academy, sponsored by the U.S. Open Beer Championship. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m.

This year’s Beer Academy goes beyond Beer 101, with Evolution of Beer, a craft beer class focused on developments since the 1980s. Class includes instruction from Dow Scoggins, a 2016 Beer Style Guide, and open bar during “Extra Credit.”

The class will be followed by Extra Credit at 9 p.m. with live music, light appetizers, and a craft beer tasting bar. Beer Academy tickets are available online at beeracademy2016.bpt.me or in the OCAC office. Non-ticket holders are welcome at 9 p.m. for Extra Credit. Tasting tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 for non-participants.

Dow Scoggins is the director of the U.S. Open Beer Championship. The U.S. Open Beer Championship is an annual international brewing competition open to professional and award-winning home brewers. This is the only brewery competition to include professional breweries and award-winning home-brewers.

This event will be held in the Oxford Community Arts Center, 10 South College Avenue, in Oxford. Hosts are offering the event as a benefit for OCAC. For additional information contact the Art Center at [email protected] or 513-524-8506.
