OXFORD — Miami University leaders and Ohio’s lieutenant governor will hold the 2016 Mental Health Forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Wilks Theater of the Armstrong Student Center.

The event will educate students on resources and spread awareness for prominent mental health issues on Miami’s campus and across the country.

“Mental health is an extremely important issue on campuses all across the country and this forum marks a huge step in the right direction,” said James Oaks, Associated Student Government (ASG) secretary for on-campus affairs.

A short film featuring Miami University students sharing testimonials of their experiences with mental illness will premiere during the forum. Ohio Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor will deliver the keynote speech. Miami President Gregory Crawford, student body president Maggie Reilly, and John Ward of Miami’s student counseling service will speak at the event.

ASG, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, National Panhellenic Council and Miami’s student counseling service invite the community to join them in the fight against mental illness.
