Special election slated for Sept. 13

PREBLE COUNTY — A special 8th Congressional District Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 13, in all the regular polling locations of Preble County.

The special election is due to the withdrawal of the Nov. 8, General Election Democratic candidate for the Representative to Congress 8th District.

Voters may request an absentee ballot by mail. The request must include name, home address, the mailing address to which the ballot is to be mailed (if different than home address), date of birth, Ohio driver’s license number or the last four digits of the voter’s social security number, signature, date, and declaration of political party. Applications may be printed from the board of elections website, www.electionsonthe.net/oh/preble.

Requests for absentee ballots must be in writing, the Board of Elections cannot accept requests over the telephone. A request by fax is also not acceptable.

Mail the completed absentee ballot request to the Preble County Board of Elections, 101 E. Main Street, Eaton, OH 45320. Deadline for mail-in absentee ballot applications is noon, Saturday, Sept. 10.

All voted absentee ballots must be received at the board office by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day if delivered in person, or have a Sept. 12, postmark if mailed.

Voters may vote at the board office Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. beginning Aug. 16 and through Sept. 2. Sept. 5-Sept. 9, voters may vote in the office from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. The board office will also be open additional hours on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 11, from 1-5 p.m.

The last day to vote in the board office is Monday, Sept. 12, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
