HUESTON WOODS — The public is invited to join in for some interesting and fun events at the Pioneer Farm, located at 6924 Brown Road.

Experience washing clothes as in days gone by on Saturday, Aug. 6, from noon-4, tour the homestead, the barn, and the township house. Then, Saturday, Aug. 13, from noon-4, visit for an old-time summer ice cream social.

Coming in October at the Pioneer Farm will be the Apple Butter Festival.

The Hueston Woods AppleButter Festival provides a vignette of 19th century farm life and features continual making and canning of apple butter in the pioneer fashion throughout the event. In addition to apple butter sales, a wide variety of apples, cider, pumpkins and gourds can be purchased on the grounds. Tours are conducted through the Doty homestead and the barn, both of mid 1980’s vintage and exhibiting a broad display of museum artifacts. Each year demonstrations of pioneer crafts are featured along with a theme program. Food service is available on site. Proceeds are directed to the historic preservation goals of the Association.

Artisans who can demonstrate pioneer crafts are encouraged to participate in this event. Contact the director at 513-524-8005.
