PCBDD meeting

The Preble County Board of Developmental Disabilities will hold a Special Meeting at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, in the board offices located at 200 Eaton Lewisburg Road, Eaton. The purpose of the meeting is to approve the Warranty Deed associated with the property located at 201 E. Lexington Road, Eaton, and any other business coming before the board.

Quarter auction

The Lewisburg Historical Society will hold a fundraiser, “Historical Hysterical Quarter Auction,” on Thursday, July 28, at the Tri-County North Community Center. This fundraiser will help with the building of the new storage barn to be located at the Train Depot. They are a nonprofit organization which holds several events for the public. Admission is $5 which includes one paddle, additional paddles can be bought for $2 each. A 50/50 raffle will be offered at $5 for six tickets or $1 for each. There will also be a food and bake sale along with venders present, some vendors will be Lulu Roe; Tyra Beauty and other venders. The items up for bid will be donations from dozens of entities here in Preble County. Notable examples of items up for auction are four tickets to the Dayton Dragons baseball team, $50 gift certificates and more. The fundraiser is open to everyone. Up to 200 paddles will be available. Items to bid for would cost .25 cents, some would be .50 cents but there is no bidding against other paddle holders who could raise the price as done at a normal auction. PCBDD meeting

The finance committee of the Preble County Board of DD will be meeting on July 20, at 3 p.m. in the small conference room located at 200 Eaton Lewisburg Rd., Suite 201, Eaton. The committee will be adjourning into executive session to discuss the employment of a public employee as well as any other business that comes before the committee.

Legion yard sale space

The American Legion Post 665, in West Manchester, has spots open for the U.S. 127 Yard Sale, Aug. 4-7. Cost is $25 per space, with a deposit that is refundable when space is completely cleared and cleaned after the sale. There is no electricity provided to each spot, however needing to show something works, a Legion Member can assist with. Portable restrooms will be available, as well as food and drinks. Budget notice

The 2017 Milford Township budget is available for public inspection at the office of the Fiscal Officer. Contact Mollie Hansel at 513-255-2501 for arrangements.

Gratis Twp. meeting

The Gratis Township Board of Trustees meeting has been moved from July 20 to July 13, at 7 p.m., due to scheduling difficulties. The location will be at the Gratis Township Building on Gratis Road.

Eaton Farmers Market

The Eaton Early Bird Farmers Market will be open at the intersection of Somers and N. Barron Streets every Saturday through mid-September. Hours of operation at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market will offer fresh vegetables and fruit, farm fresh eggs, grass-fed beef, homemade candies and kettle corn, and fresh baked goods such as rolls, cakes, pies, breads, cookies, and homemade noodles. Greenhouse plants, fresh cut flowers, woven rugs, and other handmade crafts will also be available.

Road closing

Beginning June 27, at 7:30 a.m., Somers Gratis Road is closed between Somers Road and Camden West Elkton Road for approximately five weeks for a full bridge replacement. This closure will begin at Box # 2220 and Somers Road. This will be closed to all traffic. Stay updated on this closure by visiting www. prebeng.org.

OSU Extension Safe Food Handler Level 1 training

There will be a Safe Food Handler, Level 1 training on Friday, Aug. 12, and Oct. 14, from 1-5 p.m., at The Ohio State University Extension Office on the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 1001 S. Main Street, Dayton. Safe Food Handler empowers employees as they learn how food becomes unsafe and their role in keeping food safe. ServSafe® is the industry standard for food safety education. Participants receive the ServSafe® Food Handler Guide and a certificate of completion. This class is for employees who prepare and serve food whether that is in a church, food pantry, food bank, child care center, home child care, Head Start, restaurant, or festival volunteers. Upon completion of this 4-hour course, the employee will receive a certificate of completion. Early childhood employees will receive an ODJFS in-service form.
