Two arrested for break-in

PREBLE COUNTY — Preble County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested and formally charged two adults with breaking and entering and burglary after they responded to call from a residence in the 1400 block of Orphans Road on Friday, June 17.

According to Sheriff Mike Simpson, the call came in at approximately 6 a.m. The property owner noticed a vehicle sitting on the property between two barns and made contact with three subjects were in the car, Simpson reported. Those subjects fled the area, and the homeowner then discovered that an unoccupied residence had been entered.

Within an hour deputies located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle, on Ozias Road, near the original call, Simpson noted. Further investigation led deputies to question and arrest two adults and one juvenile who were involved in the earlier incident.

Deputies charged Christopher Childers, 32, of New Paris, and Nashelle Dorr, 19, of Eaton, with burglary, a third degree felony; breaking and entering, a fifth degree felony, and contributing to unruliness or delinquency of a minor, a first degree misdemeanor.

Both Dorr and Childers remained in custody in the Preble County Jail at press time. According to Simpson, deputies are awaiting the filing of formal charges against the juvenile in Preble County Juvenile Court.

Simpson noted, PCSO deputies continue to actively work investigations involving a series of burglaries in the county.
