EATON — The Preble County Fraud Investigation team was recently recognized at the Statewide Fraud conference for Excellence in Claims Management for SNAP Benefit Recovery in 2015.

Preble County achieved the third highest collection percentage in recovering food assistance benefits which were issued to SNAP recipients that they were not eligible to receive.

SNAP recipients are required to report changes in income and household size in a timely manner. If reporting does not happen in a timely manner, or if there is an error on the part of the agency that results in benefits being released to the customer that they were not entitled to, it is the responsibility of this agency to attempt to recover those benefits. Some $117,698 was collected on an average SNAP caseload of 2051 assistance groups.

The team who achieved this success included Regina Hapner, Fiscal Officer/Supervisor; Garry Spencer, Fraud Investigator; Holly Combs and Bonnie Lackey, Unit Support Worker’s; and Judy Plaugher, Eligibility and Referral Specialist.
