EATON — After years of disrepair, the roads at the Preble County Fairgrounds were repaved over two days last week, restoring them for smooth travel and all-important loading in and out during the busy summer event season.

“It was long past time,” said Preble County commission board president Rodney Creech, “and we were able to work together with the Ag Society and work out details to finally get those roads taken care of. It’s beautiful, and it’s going to make things a whole lot easier for the county fair and the people who participate in that.”

At the Preble County commission meeting on May 23, commissioners approved $120,000 to extend the sheriff’s department food service agreement with Aramark.

A $1,648 increase was approved toward hazardous materials emergency planning with the Ohio Emergency Management Agency.

An expenditure of $13,358 was also approved for materials and construction needed for guardrails on county property.
