Absentee voting applications due

EATON —The Preble County Board of Elections is now accepting applications for absentee ballots for the June 7, 2016 Special Election. The special election will be held for the 8th District Representative to Congress unexpired term ending Jan. 3, 2017.

Voters may request an absentee ballot by mail. The request must include name, home address, the mailing address to which the ballot is to be mailed (if different than home address), date of birth, Ohio driver’s license number or the last four digits of one’s social security number, signature, date, and declaration of political party. Applications may be printed from the board of elections website, www.electionsonthe.net/oh/preble.

Requests for absentee ballots must be in writing; the Board of Elections can not accept requests over the telephone. A request by fax is also not acceptable.

Mail the completed absentee ballot request to the Preble County Board of Elections, 101 E. Main Street, Eaton, OH 45320. Deadline for mail-in absentee ballot applications is noon, Saturday, June 4, 2016.

All voted absentee ballots must be received at the board office by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day if delivered in person, or have a June 6, postmark if mailed.

Voters may vote at the board office Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. beginning May 10 through May 27. May 30 through June 3, voters may vote in the office from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The board office will also be open additional hours on Saturday, June 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 5, from 1-5 p.m. The last day to vote in the board office is Monday, June 6, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
