Job search and resume help with your library card

EATON — Career-searches and job applications are one of the top uses of the Preble County District Library. The library has several options perfect for anyone seeking a new job, wanting a career change, or breaking into the job market for the first time.

PCDL cardholders can access the Career Cruising and Career Transitions tools with just your library card number. Links to both are on the PCDL research web page at http://preblelibrary.org/referencedesk, under the “Education and Careers” section.

Both services offer features to help guide you, no matter what point you are in your career. Both have tools to match your interests, previous work experience, and education to possible career paths. Through these new tools, you can also get matched to potential scholarships for college, find info on applying for federal student aid, and set up an education plan for a particular career path.

Career Cruising and Career Transitions also have resume-building tools with the ability to properly format and print from the website.

Career Transitions offers a job interview simulation, giving tips for a stronger presentation while interviewing with a potential employer. It also provides many examples of resumes and cover letters, as well as articles and advice from career and employment experts. The site also makes available information from many different career pathways from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on average salaries, job growth, and the number of people employed in the field.

Career Transitions and Career Cruising bring a wealth of information to residents of Preble County in search of a career path, and you don’t need to be in the library to use them. Both are accessible from your home computer with your library card number.

For help using either of these, or any other, tools available from the library, contact the reference department at 937-456-5562.
